HANDCRAFTED IN THE WARMTH OF WINTER WHITE

I applied a coat of gesso to this wooden frame, then painted the frame with white acrylics, adding a bit of irridescent snow to achieve a slight shimmer. I created the art piece to use in the frame with Christmas angels on a music background. The frame is embellished with white gauze, winter white lace, a metal golden angel carrying a white pearl and I completed the project by creating a small floral arrangement by stamping on silk petals, using small metallic gold roses and a pale paper rose and gold edged organza ribbon.

My cloche is created with a variety of winter white-toned treasures. They include a hand-crafted birdhouse in white and gold; two angel figurines, a small candle covered with gold crimped foil. The pieces have been embellished with white beads, shell beads and a sprig of gold grapes.

I have painted and decorated my little wooden birdhouse with two little white birds. I applied black and white patterned tissue to the roof and applied white sheer flowers and silver leaves as well as silver metallic ribbon. I applied clear rhinestone gems along the facia boards on the front of the birdhouse, and added pearls across the front area as well.
I hope you enjoy my handcrafted projects. Your comments are sincerely appreciated.

A TREASURED GIFT FROM MY MOTHER

As many of you know, Shelley, a Fine Bone China company from England, has not been in business since the 1960's. I have been advised that Shelley actually started in 1876 as Wilernan's and closed in 1966. My parents (now deceased) were gifted with this 'HEATHER' luncheon set of 6 each of cups, saucers and sandwich plates. I have but one cup, 2 saucers, and 2 sandwich plates; all are in excellent condition, and no chips. I treasure them and do not use them as I would love to be able to pass them along to one of my 2 grand daughters. I believe that a single cup and saucer replacement at this time would be approximately $80. but the memory value far exceeds a dollar value. I love the pattern and tones of this beautiful "Heather" pattern, which to me, seems ageless. I hope you enjoy seeing my treasures today.
I wish to thank a lovely lady named Ruth who is a Shelley specialist. She was kind enough to educate me with respect to my "Shelley" treasures. Kudos to her for her vast knowledge.

HANDCRAFTED PINK PROJECTS TO SHARE

I HAVE CREATED 5 PINK PROJECTS TO SHARE WITH YOU TODAY. I HOPE YOU WILL ENJOY THEM. YOUR COMMENTS ARE APPRECIATED. HUGS, GAYLE

Creating handmade fans is something I enjoy. This is a paddle fan and I cut the paddles about 8 inches long. You can create paddles in any size and tiny paddle fans are lovely gracing your dinner plates for special occasions. A lovely take-away gift for your guests. Of course they may be created with an elegant theme, a fun theme, etc. This particular fan is created with chipboard paddles, covered both sides with a honeysuckle pink cardstock. The front of the paddles were then covered with a paper lace cut out of lace placemats. I then added embellishments to each paddle, punched a hole in the narrow end of each paddle, added a book ring and a decorative ribbon.

I purchased this regular sized raw wood birdhouse and painted it in a pink with teal blue. I embellished by stencilling flowers around the entrance to the bird house.

I created this wall swag, approximately 24 inches long by 7 inches wide using twigs for the base and adding greenery sprays, acorns, leaves and burgundy fruits (apples and pommegranites), and adding burgundy roses that I created from silk petals then encrusted the rose petals by painting with white glue then applying pink glitter. I attached a wire hanger to the twig base on the back.

You have probably seen a number of these types of handmade paper ornaments. I used patterned scrapbook paper to create the round and oval shapes, by creating a template for each then cutting the ovals and rounds out, gluing the wrong sides together, folding and adhering each folded segment to each other, adding a pearl for the top that has a looped gold string running through it to be able to hang the ornament.

HANDMADE AND ANTIQUE TREASURES

PLEASE CLICK ON IMAGED FOR LARGER AND DETAILED VIEW.

Many of my personal treasures are things I have created by hand. I love to create books and fill them with artwork. The book here has not been filled yet but wanted to share it. It is titled Ribbons and Lace for obvious reasons (smile). It is a vintage, scallop-edged book filled with pages in various tones of pinks and rose. The vintage image on the book has a lovely metal frame. I am a mixed media and digital artist and will fill it with that type of imagery and hopefully present the pages at another time.

The vintage table frame was hard to photo because of the glass covering the vintage image. I love this antique enamelled frame, it has such beautiful details. I made the jewelry box by padding and covering a chipboard oval box with a dainty patterned fabric. The inside is also padded and covered, as is the top. The top has a layer of pearls around the outer edge. The jewelry shown here is antique jewelry inherited from my mother when she passed away. All pieces are treasured.

I love birds and love to create birdhouses. This is a little wooden birdhouse that I have embellished with black and white tissue, a variety of pink flowers, feathers, and a butterfly. See the pink and burgundy feathered bird perched on the roof. Some of my embellishments include flourishes and a flower that I have glittered. Love glitter. I hope you enjoy these personal treasures. Hugs, Gayle.

A BIRDS EYE VIEW - 1

There is nothing nicer than working in your garden and listening to the sounds of the birds that make their home in your area. I envy those of you who are able to garden year 'round, but here in our snow and freezing cold I like to collect and create my own bird houses to enjoy during those long cold months of winter. This is but one I just created, I have others that I will bring to you at another time. I hope you will enjoy my birdhouse.
